Paul explains his revised plans

2 Cor. 1:12-2:4 Paul tells the believers that he’d planned to visit them twice – on his way from Ephesus to Macedonia, and on his way back from Macedonia to Jerusalem. But he’s decided to change his plans – cancelling the first of the two visits – and he now intends to stay with them for several months on his return journey from Macedonia to Jersualem.

2 Cor. 2:5-11  Paul’s first letter indicated that certain members of the church had become hostile to Paul’s teachings (see 1 Corinthians 1:10-17, 4: 3-6 & 4:18), but Paul is pleased to hear that, following his recent visit, those who disagreed have become reconciled with him again. Paul urges the believers to forgive those who caused the upset and to encourage them in their faith.

2 Cor. 2:12-13 Paul is thrilled that, when he arrived in Troas after leaving Ephesus, the people were fully prepared to hear the Good News about Jesus. But he was deeply concerned because he couldn’t find his fellow-worker Titus (who was bringing him news of the Corinthian believers). So he sailed over to Macedonia immediately, where he found Titus at Philippi (see 2 Corinthians 7:6-7 and 3 on Map 25).
