1 Cor. 3-4 Paul says that the Corinthians are still very young in their faith and are not yet ready to receive spiritual gifts because they still act like the people around them. They are too busy quarrelling about what Paul or Apollos taught them instead of recognising Jesus as the foundation of their lives.
1 Cor. 5:1-13 Paul condemns those who are still behaving as immorally as they did before they became believers. He makes it clear that those who carry on being immoral, greedy, drunkards or thieves cannot be part of the fellowship of believers.
1 Cor. 6:1-11 Paul advises the believers to settle any disputes between themselves quickly. They should resolve differences amicably, not in the public law courts.
