Eph. 4:17-24 Paul urges the believers to live a new life in Christ. “You were taught to leave your old self…to become a new person … made to be like God” (Ephesians 4:22-24).
Eph. 4:25-32 “So you must stop telling lies” (Ephesians 4:25) And don’t stay angry all day. “Do not give the devil a way to defeat you” (Ephesians 4:27). “And do not make the Holy Spirit sad. The Spirit is God’s proof that you belong to him” (Ephesians 4:30). Instead, “Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ” (Ephesians 4:32).
Eph. 5:1-17 Paul warns against deeds of darkness, and encourages believers to live in the light. So “there must be no evil talk among you, and you must not speak foolishly or tell evil jokes” (Ephesians 5:4). “Try to learn what pleases the Lord” (Ephesians 5:10).
Eph. 5:18-20 He encourages a responsible lifestyle. “Do not be drunk with wine, which will ruin you, but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).
"Do not be drunk with wine... but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18) (New Wine)
Christian families
Eph. 5:21-33 Paul gives some guidelines for a happy Christian marriage based on mutual respect. “Yield to obey each other because you respect Christ.” (Ephesians 5:21). So “each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself, and a wife must respect her husband” (Ephesians 5:33).
Eph. 6:1-4 Paul lays down similar guidelines for happy families. Children should respect and “obey” their father and mother (Ephesians 6:1), while fathers are advised not to treat their children in such a way as to make them angry. Instead, “raise them with the training and teaching of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).
Eph. 6:5-9 In a society where slaves were frequently part of the family, Paul encourages slaves to “obey your masters…just as you obey Christ” (Ephesians 6:5). He advises slave owners to “be good to your slaves” (Ephesians 6:9) and warns against threatening them, as their actions will be judged by God.
